Kino College Classes Postponed
The safety, well-being and protection of Kino College students, faculty, and staff from the potential spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) comes before any of our goals or considerations. I want to assure you that we will continue to act with appropriate caution as we continue to monitor the news about the spread of the virus.
Gov. Doug Ducey today canceled all Arizona public school classes through March 27, 2020. The Kino College Board of Managers has determined it is wise to follow suit, therefore Kino College Cohort 112 classes are postponed the next two weeks and are to resume Monday, March 30th. Cohort 114 will begin classes April 20. A new schedule of classes will be forthcoming.
Please monitor your email box and our website, KinoCollege.com, for any updates regarding any additional scheduling changes due to COVID-19.
In the meantime, we encourage everyone to make use of “best practices” as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and Pima County Health Department:
- Frequent hand washing with soap for at least 20 seconds or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- Avoid touching your face including eyes, nose and mouth.
- Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing with a tissue, not your hand.
- Anyone sick or unwell should refrain from coming to school/work and avoid public spaces.
- Refrain from handshaking, kissing, hugging etc. A respectable fist or elbow bump will do.
The Pima County Health Department (PCHD), noted Friday, March 13, that “the current risk for exposure to COVID-19 in Pima County remains low.” Based on this information, we would like to emphasize that it important not to panic or overreact to this outbreak.
We want to assure you that the health and well-being of our Kino College community remains our utmost concern, and we are committed to sharing information, following protocols, and making any adjustments that are deemed necessary to provide a safe learning environment.
