CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION

The Kino College curriculum has been designed and is periodically updated by the Kino College Medical Director; a staff physician who assures that the curriculum continuously meets the quality standards of Kino College and prepares students for national certification. The Kino College medical director maintains a network of community physicians and draws upon their expertise to keep the curriculum dynamic, on pace with modern medical advances, and relevant to the needs of those employing Kino College graduates. The medical director also oversees a selection of resources used to augment instruction delivered at the college.

The curriculum promotes critical thinking, developing life skills, professionalism, ethical conduct and integrity, making Kino College students highly desirable to healthcare employers. The curriculum employs a systems approach to instruction using selective repetition and extensive fieldwork similar to the training of medical students. Kino College’s unique teaching model has been designed to produce students with greater proficiencies demanded by today’s healthcare industry. Kino College is committed to excellence in postsecondary education.

Instruction

Kino College employs unique teaching modalities designed to meet a variety of student learning styles. Kino College is dedicated to the belief that education enriches an individual personally and professionally. Kino College’s Professional Medical Assisting program balances theory, critical thinking and skill training in its various program of study. The program is taught in English using a systems approach that employs a variety of instructional methods including lecture, demonstration, laboratory and practical application. It provides for the specific interests of Kino College students as they pertain to the healthcare system, and educates and stimulates Kino College students during their training.

Professional Medical Assistant Program



The Professional Medical Assistant program is a residential program offered within an active healthcare setting delivered using didactic, laboratory, observational, and experiential-learning instructional types. It has been designed to prepare students for an exciting career in medicine, one of the most prestigious service industries in our society.

Taught primarily by active and former medical practitioners, the program prepares students desiring to work as a Medical Assistant with healthcare and administrative skills for success in medical offices, urgent care facilities, schools, hospitals and clinics, or for further advancement in a specialized field.
